The Riverwood Forest Retreats, Dooars
Located in Dooars, the beautiful region of North-Eastern India, and at the foot of the east-central Himalayas, the Riverwood Forest Retreats overlooks the Gorumara National Park. Set on the banks of river Murti, the property is sprawled across 12.5 acres of lush, fertile land with its very own migratory bird pond.
The property is a luxurious doorway to the beautiful region of Dooar, pronounced as “Dwar”. The beautiful Sankosh River divides the region into Western and Eastern Dooars, each area having its own unique facets. It is home to an abundance of flora and fauna such as Sal dance forests, a large number of tea gardens and more. It is also home to a number of endangered species such as the One Horned Rhinocerous, Indian Elephants, Indian Bison, Leopards, Tigers, Deer, Wild Boar, Pythons, King Cobra and more. The park is Goromara National Park is a birdwatchers’ paradise and hosts more than 200 species of birds. There are a myriad of tribal settlements spread across the area as well.
Riverwood Forest Retreats places extra emphasis on conservation and sustainability. As such, they use a low voltage of CFL and LEF light bulbs and have adorned the outdoor areas with solar lights. They also have a plantation of over 8,000 indigenous saplings all around the resort. They ensure that there is a proper recycling and segregation of waste and utilize rainwater harvesting techniques as well.
The property comprises of 12 premium rooms each fitted with modern luxuries and amenities. Every room has a private balcony with an astonishing view of the forest. Rooms also provide views of the gardens and paddy fields. 6 rooms have a double bed and 6 have a single bed. They are equipped with the necessary comforts such as an LCD TV, DVD player, tea and coffee maker and more.

Within the resort, guests can use the in-house swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room or take part in indoor games.
For the outdoors, one can embark on game drives and bird-watching tours with potential viewing of Rhinos and Elephants in the forest. There are also several watchtowers where guests can visit for observation. Village walks, local folk dance, trekking to Neora Valley and a visit to the tea gardens are also exciting activities.
